The Land of Tarrem

The land of Tarrem is a world steeped in magic and formed by the influence of powerful beings known as the Ancients. In this world of endless potential, the races and religions constantly vie for supremacy, influence, and resources. Each Ancient has a following that tries to embody its traits, and each religion is as unique as the Ancient it follows.

Some faiths span the continent, such as the followers of Etheria, who advocate and work towards peace. Temples of Etheria can be found in every human city, and often in the villages in between. Other faiths are practiced only in secret and are hunted due to the danger they present. These include followers of The Shade Tower, Bolest (The Ancient of disease), and The Ironmaster who seek only to spread the influence of their Ancient. Lastly are the faiths that follow in between, they are tolerated, but can be a danger if left unchecked. Followers of Zol, the Ancient of purity, are the primary example of this. Followers of Zol reject all forms of impurity, this includes alcohol, blight, mutations, undead, and killing; but also includes most forms of work, child rearing, alchemy, and medicine. As a result, a small following is fine, and may even be beneficial, but if they grow within the village, said village will struggle to survive.

The world is broken into many regions, each region containing unique creatures, races, and terrain. The largest of the continents are Cember and the Muro lands. Cember is dominated by the Barrier Forest and surrounded by the human kingdoms. Within the forest are elven, minotaur, orc, kobold, and goblins societies. The elves live in hidden villages that dot the forest and area within, they largely keep to themselves and keep order between the other nomadic races. Orcs, Goblins, and Kobolds live in nomadic tribes that subsist as gatherers and raiders, usually picking off human caravans on the edge of the forest. Minotaurs live on their own and wander the inner region.

The Muro lands are dominated by the ten Muro tribes. The bulk of Muro Territory is open fields dominated by Delinia, Hy’till, and Renshe. The only city in the territory is on the western border and is dominated by members of the Zirix and Xivix tribes, however outcasts from all other tribes also congregate here. The mountain of Zix’muro is seen as the source of all light and life by the Muro and is a short distance south of the city. On the east coast there is a large jungle and an archipelago controlled by the Kull and Ko Tor respectively. Cember and Muro Territory are connected by two large land bridges. The northern bridge is entirely arctic tundra and the southern bridge is a desert. Both bridges are inhabited by the nomadic Sheek tribe that work as traders and guides between the two continents. Lastly the Xei’el tribe can be found across the world. They are passionate scribe and archivists that serve the Undying Scribe to preserve and protect history.
