Alchemy
Using Alchemy Recipes
In order to make an alchemy item you must know the recipe, have the necessary ingredients, and meet any additional requirements.
When making an alchemy item you must roll alchemy.
Each quality of potion requires a different SR, time commitment, and skill requirement.
Rarity Alchemy SR Brew Time Skill Requirement
Common: SR 2 1 Minute Alchemy 10
Basic: SR 10 5 minutes Alchemy 20
Advanced: SR 20 15 minutes Alchemy 40
Expert recipes require at least 5 total ranks in alchemist classes
Expert: SR 30 1 hour Alchemy 100
Exotic recipes require at least 8 total ranks in alchemist classes
Exotic: SR 40 4 hours Alchemy 200
On a failure the ingredients are consumed (other than containers) and 1 byproduct is gained that is the same rarity as the attempted recipe.
On a success the recipe is brewed and the potion(s) is created.
On critical success the batch size of the recipe is doubled.
Up to 4 batches of a recipe can be made at a time without requiring additional time or rolls.
Drank/eaten
Many potions must be consumed, this includes things such as healing potions, herb mash, and magic booster. These often require a spare bottle to store them in that is reusable afterwards.
Applied
These are applied directly to a wound or limb and are things such as wing oil, scale oil, blood stopping goo, and antiseptic. This also includes all poisons which must be applied to weapons. The container can be reused once empty.
Thrown
These are usually thrown at a target to do harm or on the ground to create a hazard such as a weakness to fire potion or a disease puddle potion. The container cannot be reused as it is destroyed upon use.
Burnable
There are only a few of these, an example is cigarettes. These are things that must be burned to be used and do not require a container.
Candles
Candles are a common occurrence in the world of Tarrem. Most often they are used as a simple source of light, though sometimes they are heat sources, and with the proper ingredients they can become potent alchemy items capable of aiding, or inhibiting, those around them.
