Survival Statuses

These are optional status effects for use in survival focused campaigns with increased difficulty. These replace the corresponding statuses listed on the normal Status Effects page.

Mild Exhaustion

  • Each hour after a character has not slept for 12 hours, make an SR 4 Fortitude roll. On failure, they gain Mild Exhaustion.

    • On success the SR is increased by 1, this resets after sleeping for at least 1 uninterrupted hour

  • Affected characters have

    1. -5 feet to movement speed.

    2. -1 Vigor, Fortitude, Cognition, Dexterity, and Intellect.

  • Every hour a character is awake while they have Mild Exhaustion, make an SR 4 Fortitude roll. On failure, they gain Exhaustion.

    • On success, the SR is increased by 1. This is reset by sleeping for 1 uninterrupted hour.

    • Sleeping for at least 4 uninterrupted hours removes Mild Exhaustion.

Exhaustion

  • Every hour a character is awake while they have Mild Exhaustion, make an SR 4 Fortitude roll. On failure, they gain Exhaustion.

    • On success, the SR is increased by 1. This is reset by sleeping for 1 uninterrupted hour.

  • Affected characters have

  1. -10 feet to movement speed.

  2. -2 Vigor, Fortitude, Cognition, Dexterity, and Intellect.

  3. -1 to all skill rolls

  • Every hour a character is awake while they have Exhaustion, make an SR 6 Fortitude roll. On failure, they gain Severe Exhaustion.

    • On success, the SR is increased by 1. This is reset by sleeping for 1 uninterrupted hour.

    • Sleeping for at least 4 uninterrupted hours removes Exhaustion and gives Mild Exhaustion instead.

    • Sleeping for at least 8 uninterrupted hours removes Exhaustion.


Severe Exhaustion

  • Every hour a character is awake while they have Exhaustion, make an SR 6 Fortitude roll. On failure, they gain Severe Exhaustion.

    1. On success, the SR is increased by 1. This is reset by sleeping for 1 uninterrupted hour.

  • Affected characters have

    1. -15 feet to movement speed.

    2. -3 Vigor, Fortitude, Cognition, Dexterity, and Intellect.

    3. -2 to all skill rolls.

  • Sleeping for at least 4 uninterrupted hours removes Severe Exhaustion and gives Exhaustion instead.

  • Sleeping for at least 8 uninterrupted hours removes Severe Exhaustion and gives Mild Exhaustion instead.

  • Sleeping for at least 12 uninterrupted hours removes Severe Exhaustion.


Dehydration

  • Not drinking water for 2 days causes dehydration.

  • Affected characters have

    1. -2 to all Attributes.

    2. Gain the Sickened and Headache status effects.

  • Drinking any non-alcoholic drink removes this status.

Severe Dehydration

  • Not drinking water for 3 days causes Severe Dehydration.

  • Affected characters have

    1. -4 to all Attributes.

    2. The character takes 10 damage each rotation that ignores DR.

    3. Gain the Sickened and Headache status effects.

  • Drinking three non-alcoholic drinks removes this status.

Stage 1 Hypothermia

  • Being Frozen for 3 consecutive rotations causes Stage 1 Hypothermia

  • While in cold temperatures the character must make an SR 8 Fortitude roll each hour. On failure, they gain Stage 1 Hypothermia. This SR increases by 1 each hour, by 1 per level of Chilled the character has, and can increase further as the temperature gets colder.

  • Affected characters have

    1. -1 to all Attributes

    2. -2 to skill rolls

  • Staying by a fire for 1 hour removes Stage 1 Hypothermia.

Stage 2 Hypothermia

  • Being Frozen for 5 consecutive rotations causes Stage 2 Hypothermia.

  • While in cold temperatures with Stage 1 Hypothermia the character must make an SR 10 Fortitude roll each hour. On failure, they gain Stage 2 Hypothermia. This SR increases by 1 each hour, by 2 per level of Chilled the character has, and can increase further as the temperature gets colder.

  • Affected characters have

    1. -2 to all Attributes

    2. -3 to all skill rolls

    3. -4 Dodge

  • Staying by a fire for 2 hours removes Stage 2 Hypothermia and gives Stage 1 Hypothermia.

Stage 3 Hypothermia

  • Being Frozen for 7 consecutive rotations causes Stage 3 Hypothermia.

  • While in cold temperatures with Stage 2 Hypothermia, the character must make an SR 12 Fortitude roll each hour. On failure, they gain Stage 3 Hypothermia. This SR increases by 2 each hour, by 2 per level of Chilled the character has, and can increase further as the temperature gets colder.

  • Affected characters have

    1. -3 to all Attributes

    2. -4 to all skill rolls

    3. -6 Dodge

    4. Gain the Dazed status

  • If a character has Stage 3 Hypothermia and is not by a fire for more than 1 hour, they gain Frostbite.

  • Staying by a fire for 6 hours removes Stage 3 Hypothermia and gives Stage 2 Hypothermia.
